Winter-Invierno

So, it seems that this winter will be cold after all. I have been thinking for a few years that I would like to make a quilted curtain for the french doors in my dining room. The doors are double glazed, but I was keen to have recycled doors.The result is a set of interesting doors, double glazing and lots of draughts. But they have been painted shocking pink and I love them.

Parecer ser que este va a ser un invierno frio. Llevo anios pensando que me gustaria hacer una cortina edredon para mis puertas francesas en el comedor. Las puertas tienen vidrio doble pero queria que las puertas fueran recicladas. El resultado son puertas interesantes, con vidrio doble y muchas corrientes de aire. Pero, las he pintado fucsia y me encantan.

I have made a few decisions around this, for example I have chosen to add some hooks to the door frame. This way there is no rod. I wanted to use a stripped branch instead of a commercial rod but it hasn't worked out yet. I like the hooks. I have added three loops to the curtain. During the day it's folded on the bench in the dining room. Then when it starts to get dark I hang it. I love that little ritual. It may not last. I might just get bored with it.

Algunas decisiones tomadas, son que por ejemplo he colocado ganchos en el marco de la puerta. No hay una vara de cortina. Queria usar una rama sin corteza de algun arbol, pero todavia no me sale.

Another thing that I struggle with and I have done for the last five years or so is the sewing machine. All that noise and speed. I just don't feel that comfortable. At the same time I don't want to close that door. So I made myself use the sewing machine which meant that the top was sewn in a day, an afternoon really. But the quilting was done by hand, I enjoy that. Perle cotton and quite big stitches.I've mixed up lots of colours.

Otro de mis probles, por mas o menos 5 anios, ha sido el uso de la maquina de coser. Todo el ruido y la velocidad. Simplemente no me siento tan comoda. Al mismo tiempo no quiero prohibirme cosas. Me force a usarla e hice la cortina con la maquina, me demore una tarde. La costura de las tres capas la he echo a mana. Ese paso me encanta. He usado algodon perle y puntos grandes. He mezclado muchos colores.

I particularly love this section. The slight change in colour. All the fabric I already had. I love seeing what comes out of what is already there.

Mi pland is to add lots of surface embroidery during the day and during summer time. This will probably take a few years. Mi plan es bordar mucho en la superficie de la cortina durante el dia y tambien en el verano, que es cuando no la colgare.Probablemente me demorare unos anios.
